Squarepusher mix

Did this little Squarepusher mix a while ago for a ninjatune forum thing. 7 or 8 minutes long, lots of different tracks.

He Cuts So Fresh

I reckon I'd scream like a girl if I was there. I did see the juice crew tour in 1988 at Brixton Academy with Kane, Shante, Biz and Kool G Rap but I can't remember if Shan was there. Thanks to bloke with knife by the way. How you doing these days?

More Westwood

From Bad Meaning Good, this was on BBC2 years ago

Classic materialzes, some early London Posse footage. Obviously before Westwood was pimping rides (after he met Dr. Fox then)

Just because it's Public Enemy

now when are all these old PE videos going to end up on DVD?

Return to Mecca

All is not lost, there's a new X Clan album out this year. I (and maybe just I (and maybe I)) am looking forward to this. I have a soft spot for their first two albums and all the associates (Professor X, Queen Mother Rage, Isis, Dark Sun Riders)so this is right up my alley alley.

Point your pink caddy this way

There's also some free mp3s on their site

Weapon X

Funkin' Lesson

Grand Verbaliser

Verbal Milk

Heed the Words

With a key....

Dame Tash

I found this on my computer, Westwood looking mighty fine

Something I prepared earlier

Here's some remixes I did done do from 6 years ago or so, I like them but they may not be good. If they're not, why not enjoy them ironically?

OC- Time's Up (remix)
Alkaholiks & ODB- Hip Hop Drunkies (remix)
ODB- Shimmy Shimmy Ya (remix)
Wu Tang Clan- The Mystery Of Chessboxin' (remix)

Dhilan picks a winner

After hours of careful consideration Dhilan's pick this week is William Basinski's Melancholia. A good choice I reckon, even if it is because it's the best teething CD on the market.

Next time he can decide once and for all which is the best De La Soul album. Currently I'm enjoying The Stakes Is High but it's not like I have a say.

An idea

Someone (not me) should put together a book of people's favourite record shops. Some nice photos and their memories of them. I nominate Groove Records and Jays Records.

I've got a Groove Records bag if that helps, it's signed by the Boo Yaa Tribe, I wonder what happened to them?

In fact, that's another good idea, a "where are they now" site for hip hop stars of the past. Shante talking about her career in child psychology, Steady B on his career on Death Row (is he still there?) and so on.

Rice and pea

You like rice and pea? Mmmm....

Don't know about you, and maybe because I'm a contrary bastard but when winter kicks in I'll have a phase of listening to old reggae and digging out old albums. So many memories going through old albums, a lot of the old favourites (Sir Coxsone Sound, Jah Shaka Vs Fatman in a Dub Confrontation, I Roy's Crisus Time) remind of an old record shop in Cambridge where I got all these. I think it was called Flashback but I may be wrong, it moved about a bit, was on Silver Street and on Mill Road too.

I got to know the owner and discovered a lot of stuff there. Got a lot of Sugarhill 12"s there too, though for some reason gave up first choice on an orginal of T Ski Valley's Catch the Beat. Oh well. Shame shops like that are disappearing superfast superbad, maybe my kids will get the same buzz on Soulseek but I doubt it.

Any road, enough reminiscing, there's some nice shows to download in reggae expert Steve Barrow's On The Wire archives, two hour shows of Lee Perry, Harry Mudie, Keith Hudson, Augustus Pablo, king Tubby and more, as well as regular shows of all sorts.
